Kate O Shea has just finished studying Sculpture and Combined media in Limerick School of Art and Design. Specializing in sculptural based performance, film and photography. Kate has exhibited around the country most recently in IMMA. In 2018 Kate worked with Artist Repeal the Eight opening procession in EVA Biennial. She has created many installation’s at Knockan Stockan in 2015 and 2013. She also worked with Cork Cultural Night and created public interactive exhibitions. Kate’s background in dance underpins her practice, as she uses movement to create living art. Through sculptural based performances, she analyses issues of a social and political nature. With ongoing inquiry into the role of the female in society. Abstract sculptural forms and the artist’s own body are the main materials used to explore female embodiment and inequality. Kate’s live performances can be site-specific, influenced by the history of the location.
